It is a near omniscient creature with complete control over all flood forms. It is the overarching antagonist of halo. Combat evolved a supporting antagonist in halo 2 and one of the main antagonists of halo 3 alongside the prophet of truth.

It was voiced by dee bradley baker. The gravemind is a centralized intelligence generated by the flood during the feral stage in the parasite s efforts to acquire more coherence and direction. The flood exists in a fairly stable state in the absence of a gravemind. The flood is a highly infectious parasite which is released several times during halo s story.

They lack the ability to coordinate their efforts but the flood will spawn spontaneously and spread by infecting sentient life forms specifically those that are self aware and capable of introspection. The gravemind starts out as a proto gravemind which is created by fusing the biomass of sentient life and after enough bodies are merged into it it will gain self awareness becoming a gravemind. A particular gravemind is the secondary antagonist in halo 2 and a main antagonist in halo 3. The gravemind is a collection of the sentience and knowledge that has been gathered by the victims of the flood.

The gravemind is a parasitic hive mind intelligence in the halo universe.
